Our brand

Our 'V' insignia is an integral part of the campaign.

Designed by Aled Williams, the 'V' represents the cross-section of a Valley. The space between the stenciled 'V' represents the rivers that give our Valleys their form.

The colours — Black and Green, represent various aspects of the Valleys:

  • Black: The industrial heritage and our old coalfields.
  • Green: The spring and summer mountainsides, along with the greening of the old coal tips - a metaphor for new life from the ashes of old.

The alternative colours, which are not represented in our insignia, but will be utilised elsewhere are Gold and White:

  • Gold: The colour of the mountainsides in autumn and winter, and the rich vein of Rugby talent that runs through the area.
  • White: The raging rivers that cut a swathe down our mountains and across our Valley basins.

Valleys Rugby has a motto, composed by award-winning dramatist and poet, Siôn Eirian:

"Y Cymoedd... Cadernid mewn Cymuned"

Which translates approximately as "The Valleys... Strength in Community."

Our official font is the perennial classic, Helvetica.
